Jabiru Sighting in Palo Verde

DSC_3718

While out on the main road collecting data on acacia trees, a car pulled up to three students with a friendly couple that looked excited beyond belief. Kyle, Jenny, and Becca were eventually able to discern one word: “Haviru! Haviru!” It turns out, this couple had seen a Jabiru nest! They showed us picture evidence and we excitedly asked in broken Spanish if they could take us to it. We piled into the back of their car, and off we went. It was such an incredible experience, and though we could only communicate in pieces, we were so happy they shared this amazing, rare site.
